Spring 2022 Calendar
As we continue to learn, connect, and work in more virtual and hybrid modes, XR environments offer more immersive experiences for engagement. Cal State Innovate and Fresno State’s Dx Hub are partnering to explore providing low cost, low barrier to entry virtual environments built in Mozilla Hubs. Hubs is an extended reality platform built on an open-source engine that enables participants to join easily from any device. Hubs can be used for virtual events, teaching and learning, or other meeting or networking opportunities, such as virtual office hours. In this workshop, we will demonstrate the Cal State XR Sandbox extended reality platform and how we made the technology available to students to enhance their learning experience and social engagement during COVID-19. We also explore how to design XR applications and experiences with Hubs/XR at Fresno State powered by Mozilla and AWS clouds. This exploration was hands-on with participants being able to enter the spaces and decorate parts of the space.
